Navigating the ancient & primal world of birth, lactation, and postpartum can feel overwhelming in our modern, fast paced society. I'm here to help.
Baby's Nectar is a company founded and ran by me, Luka Zigic. Baby's Nectar is dedicated to supporting birthing people and their families as they navigate the various stages of welcoming their baby home.
I'm a lactation consultant, postpartum doula, birth educator & classically trained chef.
I became a lactation consultant in 2020 after certifying as a breastfeeding counsellor with the International Doula Institute (IDI). To further my expertise, I pursued an advanced lactation course, honing my skills to provide comprehensive breastfeeding support. My passion for helping families grew as I expanded my knowledge through specialized training in bottle refusal support, flange fitting, and pumping assistance. In addition to my lactation work, I am certified as a birth educator through IDI and certified as an Evidence Based Birth instructor. As a certified postpartum doula through Doula Canada, I support families during the critical early days after birth, offering education, guidance, and emotional support. Before diving into the world of birth and breastfeeding support, I graduated from Red River College’s Culinary Arts program. My culinary journey led me to work at some of Winnipeg’s finest restaurants, where I fine-tuned my skills as a chef. Later, I founded my own private chef business, where I helped many families—especially new and postpartum mothers—by preparing nourishing, healing, and delicious meals right in their homes. With a unique blend of skills and certifications, I’m dedicated to providing personalized, evidence-based care to families as they navigate the challenges ad joys of childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
Financial Assistance & Accessibility
I understand that financial barriers can sometimes make it difficult to access the support, education, and care you deserve. Bringing a baby into the world is expensive and honestly... it's just a weird time to be alive right now, I get it.
It is deeply important to me that every individual, regardless of financial situation, has access to quality postpartum, child feeding, and birth education/support when they need it.
If cost is a concern, please reach out to me—together, we will find a solution. I am committed to working with you to ensure that my services are accessible, and I’m happy to offer flexible payment options, such as splitting costs (no interest or fees), to help ease the financial burden.
Additionally, I offer scholarships for teen moms, BIPOC, queer individuals, and anyone else who is disproportionately impacted in accessing quality birth/postpartum/lactation care.
My goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of background or circumstances, has access to compassionate, evidence-based care. If you need support or education but are worried about finances, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am here to help, and I will do everything I can to make it work for you.
Inclusive & Trauma-Informed Care
I am dedicated to providing an inclusive, trauma-informed practice that prioritizes the well-being and empowerment of every individual and family. My approach is centered on supporting all clients, regardless of background, identity, or personal experiences. I create a safe, judgment-free space where you can feel confident and supported throughout your journey—whether that involves birth, breastfeeding, or postpartum care.
My practice is rooted in science and evidence-based information, ensuring that you receive the most up-to-date, reliable guidance to help you make informed decisions for your family. I take a collaborative approach, working closely with an exceptional team of perinatal professionals who are equally passionate about offering you the best possible support. If I am unable to assist you with a particular need, I will make every effort to connect you with the professional who can provide the care you require.
Above all, I am committed to supporting your unique needs and empowering you to achieve your ideal birth, feeding, and postpartum experience—whatever that may look like for you and your family.
